Alloy Wheels

The Touareg's range of alloy wheels adds an elegant and imposing finish. Standard on the 150TDI, the 17" Atacama alloy wheel is a stylish 5-spoke design, complementing the Touareg's dynamic lines. The 18" Karakum wheel, standard on the V6 TDI, V6 TDI 4XMOTION and V6 FSI is an imposing V-shaped design hinting at the Touareg's on-road capabilities. Specify the optional 20" Pikes Peak alloy wheel and the Touareg takes on a commanding and impressive appearance.

Chrome highlights

Accenting the Touareg's silhouette, the chrome exterior design highlights comes as standard on all models*. Chrome details found along the radiator grille, front centre air intake, window surround, rear bumper step and around the dual exhaust tailpipes add a subtle elegance to the Touareg's style.

Bi-Xenon headlights with dynamic cornering lights and LED daytime driving lights (Optional all models)

Powerful optional Bi-Xenon headlights mimic daylight offering a brighter, whiter light for night time driving. The dynamic cornering lights continually track the movement of the steering wheel, following its direction and lighting corners for the driver's ease. The stylish LED daytime driving lights make the Touareg more easily visible and recognisable during the day. For added safety the vehicle features front fog lights with static cornering lights. When you indicate or turn the steering wheel at low speeds, the static cornering light illuminates the area you're turning into, for added pedestrian safety.

Panoramic electric glass sunroof (optional all models)

Offering 300% more transparent glass area than classic sliding/ tilting sunroofs, the optional electric panoramic glass sunroof is divided into two sections. The front section can be opened through seven different positions until fully open with a flexible wind deflector to reduce wind noise at speed. The sunroof features a 'trapped finger protection' feature in case stray fingers get in the way. And should you need some shade from the sun’s rays, the system features an integrated electrically operated sunblind.

Stylish interior

From the moment you open the door you are greeted by Touareg's elegant interior. Enjoy leather appointed seats as standard, complemented by the leather steering wheel and gearshift.

Housing controls for the multi-function display and Bluetooth phone connectivity, access all the data you need from the multifunction steering wheel, while the advanced dual zone climate control air conditioning allows both driver and front passenger to select individual temperatures.

Silver metallic and black gloss inserts on the dashboard and door trim give the 150TDI a sporting character while Vavona ornamental wood inserts give the V6 TDI, V6 TDI 4XMOTION and V6 FSI a luxurious feel.Specify the V6 TDI, V6 TDI 4XMOTION OR V6 FSI and enjoy 14-way electrically adjustable front seats, featuring electro-pneumatically adjustable side bolsters.

The rear seats fold in a 60:40 split, and can be remotely released from the luggage area in the V6 TDI, V6 TDI 4XMOTION and V6 FSI models. Should you need more boot space or more rear legroom; the rear bench can also be slid forward or backward by 160mm.

RNS850 satellite navigation system

Optional for the 150TDI and standard for the V6 TDI, V6 TDI 4XMOTION and V6 FSI, the exclusive RNS850 satellite navigation system lets you experience the latest navigation technology, integrated voice control and hard drive for storing your music and navigation data. The system is accessed via the impressive 8-inch screen and also features a DVD player that can be used to play audio CDs and audio/video DVDs.

Bluetooth phone connectivity

Stay in touch with friends, family and business calls with the integrated Bluetooth system. Scroll your phone book through the MFD premium and radio/navigation touch screen, or stream audio directly from your phone. The system is generally suitable for all Bluetooth enabled phones and allows hands free calling with remote phone pick-up/hang-up.

Dynaudio Confidence 620W premium audio system (optional all models)

This optional premium sound system offers a digital 12-channel amplifier with 620 watts of total power output and Digital Signal Processor (DSP). Designed for premium acoustics with undistorted sound, the 12 low resonance speakers, with new 2-channel dashboard speaker, harmonise sound distribution throughout the cabin.

RCD550 touch screen audio system with Media Device Interface (MDI)

Standard on Touareg 150TDI, control all audio options through the integrated 6.5" display screen. With intuitive design and functional buttons, searching for a radio station and controlling the 6-disc CD changer is simple. The unit also features an SD card slot and auxiliary input for other connections. Located in the glove box is the Media Device Interface (MDI – standard on all models), supplied with a USB connection cable. An iPod cable is available as an accessory.

Automatic opening and closing tailgate

Standard on the V6 TDI, V6 FSI, V6 TDI 4XMOTION, the electrically operated tailgate, with programmable opening angle, can be opened and closed via the Touareg’s ignition key. There is also a button located on the inside of the driver’s door as well as the tailgate for easy access.

Air suspension system (optional V6 TDI, V6 TDI 4XMOTION and V6 FSI)

For that extra level of luxury, specify the optional air suspension with ‘Comfort’, ‘Normal’ and ‘Sport’ drive settings, V6 TDI, V6 TDI 4XMOTION and V6 FSI only. With continuous speed-dependent electronic damping for a smoother ride, the vehicle tail can also be lowered to aid loading and unloading of larger or heavy objects.

Safety is a state of mind.

Safety should be more than just an afterthought. That’s why the new Touareg makes passenger safety a priority with active and passive systems that continually monitor the road conditions.

Airbags

Passenger safety is paramount and Touareg makes no exception with nine airbag's as standard located throughout the cabin. As well as front and side curtain airbags, Touareg features rear seat side airbags protecting rear occupants in the event of a side-on collision. While the new driver's knee airbag protects the driver's knees from impact should the lower dashboard encroach into the cabin.

Parking distance sensors (with Optical Parking System - OPS)

Small sensors located in the front and rear bumper will detect objects in your path when maneouvring at low speed. They also simplify the process of parking in smaller spaces. Via an acoustic chime that quickens on approach to an obstacle, or via the Optical Parking System visible on the centre display panel, the system warns you of your proximity to obstacles and other vehicles meaning you can keep your Touareg out of harm's way.

Crumple zones

Discover the tough safety cell of the Touareg. Crumple zones at the front and rear of the vehicle are designed to absorb impact during a collision. These dissipate energy through the safety zones, away from the passenger compartment, increasing the safety of yourself and your occupants.

Active safety systems

No matter what the road conditions might be, Touareg has a range of active safety systems that continually monitor each wheel individually for the safest possible driving experience. The innovative traction control systems comprise Electronic Stabilisation Program (ESP), Anti Slip Regulation (ASR) and Electronic Differential Lock (EDL) all working together to maintain continuous traction in line with the 4MOTION all-wheel drive or 4XMOTION four-wheel drive systems.

Should you need to come to a stop in a hurry, the Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) and Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD) will bring you to a smooth stop. Brake Assist will step in during extreme situations to apply extra braking force if the system detects very heavy braking.

Safety optimised head restraints

Probably one of the most overlooked features of a modern car, the head restraint is also one of the most important. With height and longitudinal adjustable head restraints, not available on the 150 TDI, it’s easy to find your optimum position for safety and comfort.

Anti-theft alarm system        

Making sure your Touareg doesn’t go anywhere unless you’re driving it, the V6 TDI, V6 TDI 4XMOTION and V6 FSI feature a high security anti-theft alarm system with interior monitoring and towing protection as standard.

FSI petrol engine technology

For the ultimate in power and refinement, the 3.6 litre V6 FSI petrol engine offers a dynamic 206kW of power and an impressive 360Nm of torque. Combining the latest in FSI direct injection petrol technology advances, the smooth power is instantly accessible while still maintaining enviable fuel economy thanks to BlueMotion Technology.

TDI diesel engines

Our turbocharged diesel (TDI) engines feature the latest in common rail injection technology, making them responsive and fun to drive, as well as being incredibly efficient. For a subtle balance between economy and performance, the 150TDI 3.0 litre engine offers 150kW and an impressive 400Nm torque from its V6 configuration. For extra power, with minimal sacrifices to economy, both the V6 TDI and the V6 TDI 4XMOTION offer either a powerful 176kW or 180kW of power* and an impressive 550Nm torque for a powerful yet refined driving experience.

8-speed automatic transmission

A first for the Touareg, the innovative 8-speed automatic gearbox combines impressive performance and exceptional fuel economy. Providing smooth, seamless changes whatever speed you're doing, it has closer ratios than previous gearboxes meaning quieter cruising, enhanced performance and lower CO2 emissions.

BlueMotion Technology

'Start/Stop' technology - designed to help you save fuel and cut emissions, the innovative 'Start/Stop' system automatically turns the engine off when the vehicle is at a standstill, i.e. at traffic lights. The driver brakes to a standstill, maintains pressure on the brake and the engine automatically switches off. Release the brake pedal, the engine restarts automatically.

Brake energy recuperation (recovery) means the battery is charged when the engine is under minimal or no load. So when coasting or braking, the battery is supplied with plenty of power, but on accelerating, almost none at all.

4MOTION all-wheel drive

4MOTION – The advanced permanent all-wheel drive capabilities of the Touareg offer improved fuel efficiency as well as the stability and safety you would expect from an all-wheel drive vehicle. The system means power is transferred to front or rear wheels, or both, depending on which have more grip. Ensuring you are in control whatever the road or weather conditions.

4XMOTION – Standard on the V6 TDI 4XMOTION, the advanced 4XMOTION four-wheel drive system adds another level of off-road capabilities to the Touareg's impressive potential. The system can be adjusted from a central dial to engage low range gearing, as well as centre and rear differentials that can be locked off independently for added off-road ability.
